Our team members have a long history of being engaged in their communities, making them a better place to live and work. Once again in 2019, our collective efforts are being recognized by the Minnesota Bankers Association, showcasing MidCountry Bank as an organization that represents what community banking is all about.
In 2018, 71 team members embraced the opportunity to log nearly 2600 hours of paid and unpaid volunteer service, benefitting the communities and organizations that are important to them. This represents a 14% increase in employee engagement over the prior year – something to truly be proud of!
In addition to donations of time and talent, MidCountry provides direct charitable donations to a number of nonprofits and community organizations as part of its on-going commitment to corporate social responsibility. In 2018, MidCountry donated approximately $200,000 to 34 separate organizations across the state.
Within the broad spectrum of organizations that MidCountry supported financially or through volunteerism efforts in 2018, our collective work to support low and moderate income individuals deserves special mention. We do this not only by being a leader in affordable financing solutions in the state of Minnesota, but also by embracing our civic responsibility to the communities we serve. Confirmation of this is the consistent recognition of several MidCountry loan officers with Platinum level “Top Loan Officer” by Minnesota Housing.
In 2018 MidCountry continued to focus resources on programs serving the Veteran community. Not only did we carry out the work initiated in 2017 with Rebuilding Together Twin Cities by volunteering 400 hours of time in May 2018 on a project to benefit a veteran in need, but we entered into a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Central Minnesota providing the “lead” funding required for an inaugural new Veteran Home Build in the St Cloud area. This groundbreaking took place in September 2018 and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2019. The MidCountry partnership is also providing critical funding, volunteer labor, and financial literacy training for homeowners who are selected by Habitat for this special program.
