Today the American Red Cross is recognizing MidCountry Bank, headquartered in Bloomington, MN, for supporting the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces Program through a commitment of $100,000. This gift enables the Red Cross to provide emergency communications, family services and hospital support to service members, veterans and their families.
“Thanks to the generosity of Service to Armed Forces supporters like MidCountry Bank, we are able to provide support for our service members and their families from enlistment to life after the military,” said Phil Hansen, Regional Executive Director, American Red Cross Minnesota and Dakotas Region. “These generous donations, coupled with the support of the American people, are critical to helping ensure a resilient military community, especially in our region.”
Each year, the Red Cross provides more than 100,000 emergency and critical community services in its Service to Armed Forces programs. Across the region MidCountry Bank serves, the Red Cross provides emergency communications services, reconnection and resiliency workshops for families after deployments, works with partners supporting Yellow Ribbon events and more.
“With the challenges our communities have been presented this past year, our ability to support services such as the American Red Cross becomes even more critical,” commented MidCountry Bank CEO and President, Steve Meads. “We are grateful that we can contribute financial resources to such an important mission.”
For nearly 140 years, the Red Cross has provided comfort and support to members of the United States military.
More than 1,300 times a day, the Red Cross provides services helping members of the military, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with, and respond to, the challenges of military service.
In FY20 the Red Cross assisted:
- 146,000 hospitalized people who needed rehabilitation services and care.
- 91,000 military heroes who faced personal emergencies.
- 20,500 family members who sought out behavioral health support.
