Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) was founded in 1990 with a mission to end homelessness for those who served our country. Since its inception, the efforts of MACV have effectively cut our homeless veteran population in half in the state, but the need is still great. MidCountry Bank has renewed its support of this effort with a $100,000 donation intended to fund programs that help homeless veterans with individualized plans to gain stability and eventual independence.
MACV is an organization of approximately 50 individuals dedicated to its cause, with over half of them veterans themselves. The expanded team taps various non-profit or service sectors that provide valuable contacts and skill sets to navigate the government, legal and public/private resources necessary to solve this chronic issue.
On average, the transition from homelessness to supportive or permanent housing lasts 6-9 months. MACV facilitates regional “Stand Down” events that bring all of the resources together to help improve access to the services these veterans need.
MidCountry Bank President and CEO Steve Meads shared, “MidCountry Bank is pleased to continue our partnership with MACV to address the needs of our homeless veterans. The impact MACV has made in our communities and in the lives of the individuals they have helped is significant. We are proud to support this meaningful work.”
