The mission statement of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is to “Bring people together to create, preserve, and promote affordable homeownership and advance racial equity in housing.” Eleven team members from the Bloomington branch led by the Loan Operations team helped to further that mission by volunteering on a homebuilding site in Chaska, MN.
The home that MidCountry team members worked on was a twin home in a cul-de-sac of four twin homes that were built by Habitat. The site is a beautiful location that was previously a field owned by a neighboring church. This twin home was in the finishing stages of the building process, and the MidCountry team worked in teams of 2-3 on projects ranging from cleaning and mixing paint to casing and trimming closet doors. One of the twin homes is already matched with a family and the other is awaiting a match. The chosen homeowners purchase the homes from Habitat with an affordable mortgage and payment. In addition to the on-site volunteer day, MidCountry Bank donated to the cause.
