MidCountry Bank is pleased to announce the hiring of Brett Howells as Market President of Long Lake. In this role, Howells will lead local market initiatives, strengthen customer relationships, and support the financial needs of businesses, business owners, nonprofits, and the broader Long Lake community.
Howells brings nearly two decades of banking experience, having began his career in 2008. His experience includes serving on the executive team of a Twin Cities community bank, where he helped shape strategy, improve operations, and identify opportunities to better serve customers and employees. These experiences have reinforced his belief in the community banking model, built on responsive service, local decision-making, and a deep understanding of each client’s goals.
“We are excited to welcome Brett to MidCountry Bank,” said Chris Hunter, Chief Community Banking Officer, MidCountry Bank. “His extensive experience in community banking, combined with his commitment to building meaningful relationships and improving the banking experience, makes him a valuable addition to our team. We look forward to the impact he will have on our customers and community.”
In his new role, Howells will work with businesses on a range of financial solutions, including lines of credit, commercial real estate financing, equipment financing, acquisitions, treasury management, and deposit services. He will focus on providing practical guidance, simplifying the banking experience, and building long-term partnerships that help customers navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
“I’m excited to join MidCountry Bank and be part of a team that believes in the value of community banking,” said Howells. “The best banking relationships start with understanding people, their businesses, and what they want to accomplish. I look forward to building those relationships and helping our customers find practical solutions that support their success.”
Howells lives in Excelsior with his wife and their two daughters. Outside of banking, he enjoys spending time with his family on the golf course and the lake. He is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and has served in a finance leadership role with Island View Golf Club in Waconia for several years.
